A workshop on Implementing the Requirements of

The Higher Council for the Affairs of Persons with Disabilities held a workshop in Karak on implementing the requirements of the National Building Code. HRH Princ Raad the president of the Council high lightened that Jordan was among the first countries that signed and ratified the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, proving Jordan’s commitment toward the citizens with disabilities.

HRH asserted that Jordan is committed to the text of the Convention on the environmental facilities through implementing the National Building Code in addition of identifying the obstacles in order to get over them; by providing the buildings, roads and transportation with needed facilities including Braille, sign language interpreters and any other equipments.

The governor of Karak Mr.Ali Shra’a ensured the right of persons with disabilities to overcome the difficulties facing applying the code, through cooperating with relevant government departments.
The Director of the project “The Third Tourist Project” in the executing company Eng. Mo'taz Shawareb said that the schema and designs for the project took into account the building code.


Some of the participants in the workshop suggested rehabilitating the old buildings to suit the needs of persons with disabilities.

At the end of the workshop Prince Raad donated with 5,000 JD as a support for implementing environmental facilities for persons with disabilities in the governorate of Karak.
