AMMAN (Petra) - HRH Prince Raad, Chief Chamberlain and president of the Higher Council for the Affairs of Persons with Disabilities (HCD), on Friday said the Millennium Development Goals cannot be achieved without the full inclusion of people with disabilities (PWD). Addressing a ceremony on the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, observed annually on December 3, he noted that there is a gap between theory and practice when it comes to implementing PWD rights. Prince Raad pointed out that the number of PWD in the world stands at 600 million, or 10 per cent of the world population. He highlighted that Jordan is a leading Arab country in terms of safeguarding PWD rights and helping them integrate into the community, citing the 2007-2015 national strategy for PWD. |
