Community Based Rehabilitation Programs

 
     
 

His Royal Highness Prince Raad Bin Zeid Chief Chamberlain is pioneer in this concern therefore the HCAPD adopted this program and carried it out in the early nineties in the following areas:

1. Al Karak Governorate and Al Mafraq Governorate.
2. It is now being carried out in Al Dlail area and Al Halabat (Eastern Badia).

In accordance with the Council plan for 2009/2010, this experiment will be popularized at Ajloun governorate and north of Al Mazar district.

Community Based Rehabilitation Program / Dulail and Halabat


Under the patronage of his Royal Highness Prince Raad Bin Zeid Chief Chamberlin of His Majesty King Abdullah II Bin Al Hussein, and on 9/2/2009 , the Community Based Rehabilitation Program in Al Dulail and Halabat area was launched . This was done in accordance with a convention between International Handicap organizer and The HCAPD cosigned at the end of 2008. This program has been started in cooperation with Saiedat Al Dulail Association (Al Dulalail Ladies) as a local partner with a financial support of 50000 JD (from International Handicap Organization). Moreover , it will consist of meeting with the local community, making topographical studies of the geographical area and the implementation of the house to house surveys, activating the local community , involving of persons with disabilities so as to come out with a document.


It is expected that this document will identify the scale of the disability. Therefore, a group of volunteers in the area was trained on survey methods, house visits, causes and types of disabilities in addition to workshops on detection and work with special needs, child development, visual disability motor disability, speech and hearing impairment, intellectual and slow learners, cerebral palsy and physiotherapy and occupational therapy.

 

Launching of Early Detection Workshops for Non- working Mothers

The HCAPD has started a series of training workshops that extends over a period of one year for volunteers and local community. The first one started on 3/5/2009 with a thirteen participants from the Community Based Rehabilitation Program /East Amman / Jebel al Naser area/Alia neighborhood. Those workshops aim to empower and equip participants with technical information over a period of eleven days, furthermore, they aim at training non- working mothers on educational tools: making and using these tools with their children from birth up to 9 years.


The second workshop will be conducted for a number of volunteers in cooperation with Marcy Corps Association, it is expected to take place in queen Zein Al Sharaf Complex for human development between 14- 25/6/2009.

 

Portage Program


This is an educational program for early intervention and r educating mothers at their homes.
It is applied on normal children from birth until the age of six and on children with disabilities until nine.
On joining the program mother will be trained on how to deal with her child through home visits (once a week for an hour and a quarter).


 Objectives of the Program
 

  • Provision of early habilitation portage program inside the house.

  • Conducting assessment on early detection for children as early as possible.

  • Involving parents in the training and educational process. This is one of the most effective ways to provide the child with the necessary skills helps mothers to take care of their children and helps in adapting child daily life.

  •  Provision for the mother of continuous training in necessary methods and ways to take care of her disabled child.

  • Provision of curriculums that agrees with the local culture and including special education topics in addition to perceptual and physical stimulants.

  • Implementing the program practical steps without interfering family daily life.

  •  Identification weakness and strengths points in the child without disability, designing a special program based on current knowledge which will be done in cooperation with the mother.

  • Implementing a curriculum that gradually develops and can be used as an instrument for teaching.
