Meeting of the Technical Guiding Committee for the Preparation of Criteria for Educational Diagnosis

the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities held the first meeting of the Technical Guiding Committee that will provide the necessary technical support to the group working on preparing criteria for educational diagnosis. The Secretary General of the Council, Dr. Muhannad Al-Azzeh headed the meeting.

The committee heard the preliminary presentation on the work plan to prepare these criteria. It also discussed several options for the project and stressed the need to train and qualify staff working in the Ministry of Education on these criteria in order to start implementation even as the program is launched.

In the meeting, Al-Azzeh stressed the importance of such criteria in determining evaluation mechanisms that ensure accurate results and draw the right path for students with disabilities at the various educational stages. He expressed appreciation for the role played by the Ministry of Education as the Council’s key partner.

He highlighted the importance of the qualitative shift made by the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities No. (20) of 2017 in the field of education. He also underlined the Ministry’s role in this regard, which is to develop a ten-year plan for inclusive education, endorse it by the end of 2018 and start implementing it over the next ten years.

The guiding Committee includes representatives from the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health, the University of Jordan, UNRWA, the Princess Tharwat Center and the Maria Den Braven Center.
